An exceptional Septarian egg of remarkable character, dominated by a vast open druzy cavity that covers the entire front face of the piece and is filled with thousands of densely packed black crystal points that glitter and flash with every shift of light. The crystal growth within the cavity is exceptionally dense and dark, ranging from near-black to deep charcoal with occasional flashes of warm amber and rust where the underlying matrix is visible at the edges. The overall effect is deeply dramatic, like looking into a night sky of crystallised earth.
The reverse face reveals the classic Septarian patterning in beautiful clarity, warm grey-brown mudstone divided by bold black aragonite veining into a series of clean polygonal sections, with a broad sweep of deep black agate along one side that transitions into the raw crystal cavity edge. The contrast between the smooth, polished mudstone sections and the raw, sparkling crystal interior gives this piece extraordinary variety and visual interest from every angle.
