A band of warm golden amber runs across the lower half of the slab like a sunlit meadow or a glowing horizon at dusk. Rising up from this golden zone, in the cooler silver-grey upper half of the stone, are the unmistakable silhouettes of tall trees and dense shrubs, their branching forms so precise and lifelike they are almost impossible to believe were formed entirely by manganese dendrite minerals within the stone over millions of years and not by the hand of an artist. The panoramic, wide format of the slab makes the landscape composition even more compelling, stretching the scene across the full width of the piece like a painted scroll.
