A rare and captivating natural Chrysanthemum Stone displaying two beautifully formed silver-white chrysanthemum flower formations against a deep, velvety black matrix. Each flower has formed naturally over millions of years through the crystallisation of celestite or calcite minerals within the dark limestone or shale host rock, the radiating petal-like formations spreading outward from a central point with extraordinary precision and symmetry.
The upper flower is the more expansive of the two, its long, elegant petals spreading wide in a composition of real grace and openness. The lower flower is slightly more compact and layered, its petals more densely arranged and overlapping, giving it a fuller, more three-dimensional quality. Together they create a natural still-life of exceptional beauty, the brilliant silver-white of the mineral formations contrasting dramatically with the deep black of the surrounding matrix.
The raw, unworked edges of the stone preserve the entirely natural character of the piece, the rough black matrix forming a bold, sculptural frame for the delicate flower formations within. The piece sits flat at the base without support and displays beautifully from the front.
